Biography 

Dr. Hung graduated in the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK in 2004 and started his training in Emergency Medicine in the Prince of Wales Hospital, one of the two university teaching hospitals in Hong Kong. He had completed 6 years of training in emergency medicine and obtained his membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCSEd). He holds two master degrees in the fields of public health (CUHK) and disaster medicine (Europe).

Dr. Hung participated in various needs assessment and evaluation trips in rural settings post disaster mainly in China and also in Bhutan with the Public Health Humanitarian Initiative in CUHK. He participated also as a volunteer doctor in the emergency medical relief phase after the Sichuan, China earthquake in 2008.

Apart from the research interest in disaster and humanitarian crisis and rural and ethnic minority health, Prof Hung has published articles on the areas of aviation and transportation medicine. He studied more than 4000 cases of in-flight medical emergencies over 5 years in Hong Kong, and looked at the predictors of outcomes like in-flight deaths and medical diversions.
