Participating in Chinese Translation of QSAND (Quantifying Sustainability in the Aftermath of Natural Disasters)

CCOUC was invited as an expert partner to participate in the translation of the Quantifying Sustainability in the Aftermath of Natural Disasters (QSAND) Guidance Manual, a self-assessment tool developed by The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Building Research Establishment (BRE) of UK for assessing and promoting sustainability in post-disaster relief, recovery, and reconstru

ction. The tool is organized into different categories within which issues relating to the reconstruction of a sustainable built environment are assessed, including WASH, shelter and community, materials and waste, and resettlement. The translation is supported by Chan Cheung Mun Chung Charitable Fund. Project partners include Sichuan Branch of the Red Cross Society of China, Sichuan University-The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction, BRE Trust, and Loughborough University.

The Chinese translated version was completed and released in August 2022. It is now available for interested parties and public to download and use here.
