HIWeather Workshop – Increasing the value of weather-related warnings

CCOUC postdoctoral fellow Dr Holly Lam participated in the High impact Weather Project (HIWeather) workshop in Beijing, China on 20-22 November 2018. The HIWeather is a 10-year research project founded by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 2016 to build resilience to weather-related hazards through better preparedness. The research focuses on the entire value chain from weather forecasts to warning systems. Oral and poster presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions were conducted during the workshop. Dr Lam was one of the panelists for the discussions on urban health hazards and took part in a breakout session discussing the issues about sharing of research data from the perspective of the public health sector.
