Applicants' Profile
The Course targets the following cohorts demonstrating keen research interest in disaster and humanitarian context:

Course fee
The course fee is of a total of HKD 4,000. It covers the costs of tuition, course materials and accommodation on shared twin bed room basis in Hong Kong for the period of 2-8 July 2017 (6 nights)

Accommodation
Participants will be accommodated in shared twin room at Heritage Lodge inside Jao Tsung-I Academy during the period of 2-8 July 2017 (6 nights).

Visa
Participants are responsible to apply visa to travel to Hong Kong on their own. For details, please consult the local embassy of the People's Republic of China. Upon request, CCOUC will provide the participant a document supporting his/her visa application.  

Language
Course will be conducted in English. English proficiency is required. 

Training Format
The Course will be running in the form of lectures, workshops together with tutorials. It will be supported by various online teaching resources. Pre-course readings will be assigned to students before the commencement of the Course.  

Pre-Course Assignment
Pre-course readings will be assigned to participants to allow advance preparation. Further, to ensure participants have a substantial level of knowledge in research methodology for disaster and medical humanitarian response, all participants are required to complete two of the following three online courses developed by CCOUC before the commencement of the course: -

You are highly recommended to complete all these courses. Please submit the certificates of completion of at least two of the courses to jennifer.wong@cuhk.edu.hk before 16 June, 2017.  

Assessment
The Certificate of Completion will be awarded if the participants satisfy the followings:

  • Attendance of 100% of the on-site training;
  • Completion and passing of the class assessment.  

Scholarship
A limited scholarship might be awarded to outstanding candidates to cover the course fees and/or transportation expenses. Selection will be made based primarily on candidates’ profile.
